Manchester United front man, Wayne Rooney has taken to praying for divine intervention as his team suffered its eighth league defeat this season, losing 2 -1 against Stoke City on
Saturday, Feb. 1. The famous English footballer got his teammates
laughing out loud as he got on tweeter at 2:00 AM that same day to say,
'@godtv I'm watching and feel you. Much love.'
Rooney has obviously revealed that he turned to God TV after Manchester United’s defeat against Stoke City but later deleted the tweet after supporters of rival teams had poked fun at him and Manchester United boss David Moyles. One football fan tweeted: 'Your team's gonna need more than God to resurrect your top 4 hopes'. Another wrote: 'Is Rooney okay? Tweeting Godtv at 2am in the morning, has he turned to God cos of Moyles?'
According to UK’s Daily Mail, "even Man United supporters joined in, with one joking: 'obviously that means we’re signing God in the summer.'
However, Rooney has also revealed that he is a Catholic and often prays - including just before a match, 'I pray to God, of course. I believe in God,' the father-of-one previously told presenter Richard Keys on talkSPORT Radio. "I pray in the physio room. I go in after my warm-up. I basically spend a few minutes in there on my own."
He continued, "It is something I have always done. I pray at night. I pray for my family and friends and for the health of everyone I love."
Meanwhile, the football star is reported to had been offered a deal to become captain of Manchester United and according to The Daily Mirror, he will be offered a new four-and-a-half year deal worth around £300,000-a-week.
